ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Family therapy

Family Therapy is a form of counselling that involves, as it sounds, all or part of a family. It aims to improve the relationships and bonds between members of a family during or after a difficult period, such as separation or a major trauma.

It is the intention of family therapy to improve family conflicts by developing communication and better understanding between the various family members. Family therapy can occur between separated parents, with one parent and their children, or with both parents and all children. Family therapists will determine the best model for each family.

Family therapists may be psychologists, psychiatrists of counsellors specialising in children’s matters. They may initially met with the family members individually to determine the dynamic and concerns for your particular family and then make recommendations for ongoing treatment.

We are able to recommend family therapists who can assist you in your particular circumstances.
