Renee Smith is a Family Law Specialist, accredited by the Law Society of New South Wales, practicing almost exclusively in family law since her admission as a lawyer in 2011. Renee has a wealth of experience providing advice and representation in a range of matters including divorce, parenting arrangements, relocation cases, property matters, Binding Financial Agreements and de-facto relationships, and adoption matters. Renee is also experienced in family violence and criminal law matters.

Renee understands that clients’ matters can often be complex and also involve non-legal issues; she therefore focuses on providing practical, clear advice to her clients and will identify other appropriate services when needed to ensure clients are provided with a holistic approach to their matter. Renee is highly responsive to her clients and ensures they have an understanding and awareness of the processes and procedures of the system and are well informed about their matters at all times.

Whilst she takes a practical and common sense approach, Renee also has excellent technical knowledge of the law and court processes and is committed to achieving the best outcome for her clients at all times. She is also conscious of avoiding unnecessary costs, delay and ongoing stress for clients.

Renee acknowledges that in many instances resolving a matter without Court intervention will ensure the best outcome for her clients. She is a skilled negotiator, with experience in a range of alternate dispute resolution including mediation, round table conferences and Conciliation Conferences. However, where matters are litigated before the Court Renee is a fierce advocate for her clients with excellent technical knowledge of the law surrounding evidence and a detailed knowledge of the Court processes. Renee has appeared before NSW courts, as well as the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia and focuses on being a strong advocate for her clients. Renee is also an accredited Collaborative lawyer.
